Ages 7-9 - 45 Min.
This class introduces
the young actor to the world of theatre using fun and innovative theatre games. The class will stretch
your child’s creativity and imagination as they learn the fundamentals of theatre and grow more comfortable with who
they are on and off stage. They’ll learn different acting techniques, perform fairy tales in pantomime,
stage scenes, jump into improv acting, and do lots of other things—and have lots of fun in the process! Ages 10-12 - 60 Min. The world
of theatre is exciting, challenging, and ever-changing. Whether students are “seasoned” performers or are new
to acting, they’re all welcome to take this class and experience what theatre has to offer. Students will have the opportunity
to learn the basics of theatre, the art of pantomime, the thrills of improvisational acting, and the importance of creating
a cohesive team, using high-energy activities. Along with all of the above, students will rehearse and perform monologues,
duet scenes, and group scenes. This course is for anyone who is interested in theatre, performing,
being challenged, having fun, trying new things or who just want to take an awesome class. Comedy Acting - 60 Min. (One year of Drama experience required) Why did the monkey fall out of the
tree? Because it was dead. If that joke
made you laugh, this is the class for you. If it didn’t—sign up and learn why it should have. We’ll
be focusing on one specific aspect of theatre: comedy. You’ll get a toolbox of techniques to improve your comedic acting,
including timing, The Pause, delivery, and pratfalls. We’ll also discuss the theory of what makes something funny, the
different types of comedy, and some favorite comedic characters from well-known works of stage and screen. Hone
your comedic skills as we perform scenes from each type of comedy; take your writing to a new level as we create our own scenes
around the major comedic tools; and enhance your own funny factor by increasing your self-awareness and confidence.
Teen Class Ages 13 + (No experience required, ) - 60 Min. If you’re in middle school or high school and looking for something new to try, this class is a great
way to learn about theatre, performance…and maybe even yourself. We’ll write, perform, and record commercials,
prepared and ‘cold’ auditions, and staged ‘blooper reels.’ You’ll learn the ins and outs of
the play-staging process, from the secrets of a successful audition to advanced acting techniques. The major focus will be
on how to create a successful character, especially playing against your own personality type. If you’re looking to
practice self-expression and build your confidence in a safe and supportive environment, this is the class for you.
