Electronic Press Kits (Professional Recording Projects)
For: Advanced Private/Semi-Private Students only
Dates & Times: To be worked out individually throughout the summer
Cost: See different options available in Step by Step process section (below)
Deadline to enroll: June 30th Spaces are extremely limited for this project, so please don’t wait!
Description: Are you a serious vocalist interested in creating, recording, producing, mixing and mastering a professional music project?  A music project containing professional recordings, professional photos and a bio of your interests and hobbies?
An Electronic Press Kit is an online artist website which contains all of these things.  A huge benefit of EPK’s over CD’s is that an EPK can be emailed to anyone anywhere in the world…all with one simple click!  Below is  a step by step process of how it all works.

Step by Step Process for Electronic Press Kits
  1. 45-60 minute consultation with Mr. Wes.  During this time, you will decide on the songs that you would like to record.  You can choose from a number of different song package options, which will be listed below.  Once you decide on the songs you want to record, you move on to step 2.

  2. Begin working on the songs at home on your own time.  It is important to understand that unlike regular voice lessons, Mr. Wes will not be teaching you the songs themselves.  That is the responsibility of the singer.   Your job is to prepare for the recording sessions.  Mr. Wes will be COACHING you throughout the recording process.  This is not the same thing as teaching the music to the student.   You should be familiar enough with all of your songs to be ready to record once your recording date(s) have been set.

  3. Once you are prepared, the next step is to come into the studio to record your first song.  Each song should take 1 day to record.  In some cases, it may be possible to record 2 songs.  Keep in mind that you will record more than one version of your song.  Often times, a singer may record the song 3-4 times so that Mr. Wes can get the best version of each line, paragraph etc.  The recording process should take between 5-10 days total, depending on the song package chosen by the singer.

  4. Once all of the songs have been recorded, the singer will have a professional photoshoot.  Mr Jason will take between 75-100 different shots, which will take place throughout the Mt. Horeb area.  The singer will receive all of these shots.  Keep in mind that out of all the shots taken, only a handful will be used for the Electronic Press Kit (6-8 total shots).
  5. The next step is for Mr. Wes and the singer to write a bio that best describes the singer.  This will consist of singing experience, shows, aspirations, hobbies etc.  Once this is finished, the next step deals with mixing and mastering.
  6. Once all songs have been recorded, all headshots have been completed and the bio is finished, the next phase is in mixing and mastering the music.  This is done at a separate location in Madison, WI.  This process takes up a significant chunk of time. Singers are not required to attend this process, but are invited to do so.  Mixing and mastering are what makes the project sound professional.  Once the songs are mixed and mastered, the final step; putting it all together (the EPK) takes place.

  7. Mr. Wes will then take the songs, pictures, bio etc and design the EPK.  Once this is completed, the Singer will receive the following.

  1.  A link to a professionally designed EPK (this link will be your way of accessing the site as well as sending it to whomever you wish to send it to.  Mr. Wes will have access to this link as well in the event you lose it.
  2. MP3 copies of all mixed and mastered songs.  If you simply want to send one of the songs to someone rather than the EPK link you have that option.
  3. Copies of ALL photos taken from the photoshoot.  Again, this will be between 75-100 pictures in all.

As you can see, there is a lot involved in making this happen.  The EPK option is not for everyone.  If you are serious about having a professional representation of your talent, this option may be a great fit for you!  Below are the package options.

  1. 4 song package (includes all pictures and bio etc):  $450
  2. 6 song package (includes all pictures and bio etc):  $600
  3. 8 song package (includes all pictures and bio etc): $750

The best way for you to see what the EPK is and how it all comes together is to see a finished product.  We would be happy to send you a link to a completed project.
