* To be willing to take corrections with a positive attitude knowing they are only being given to make you better
*To put the company ahead of any other extra curricular activity that does not affect a school grade
Time Commitments
A detailed calendar will be given out at the beginning of the fall season with the understanding that some dates are subject to change. Any schedule changes or additions will be discussed with as much advanced notice as possible.
Summer (We know that summer is a time for relaxing, enjoying the outdoors, and going on vacations. We always do our best to work with summer conflicts.)
Members will participate in our 5 week group summer classes. Specific schedules may vary for each dancer depending on their current level of experience.
Company rehearsals will be scheduled throughout the summer based on dancer availability.
Fall – Spring Week Days
X-Tension 1 & 2 will have a 3 hr. company class once per week in addition to their required classes.
Fall - Spring Weekends
X-Tension 1 generally rehearses one Saturday per month from 9:00-3:00 during the months of Sept - Dec. There have been times when a 2nd rehearsal was needed. In January & February there are typically 2 weekend rehearsals from 9:00-3:00 as the concert draws closer. March includes 2 full weekends with a Sat. & Sun tech weekend and then Show weekend! Dancers will need to keep both Saturday and Sunday of tech & all of show weekends open. These days can be pretty long, but are fun, very productive and definitely add to the bonding experience!
X-Tension 2 generally rehearses one Saturday per month from 9:00-12:00 during the months of Sept - Dec. There have been times when a second rehearsal was needed. Required Classes
In addition to company class and rehearsal, members are required to take a minimum number of dance classes.
X-Tension 1 Dancers Must be enrolled in four dance classes per week, not including company classes. One must be Ballet, One must be Jazz. The other two are dancer's choice and could be additional Ballet and Jazz classes or Modern, Hip Hop & Tap. X-Tension 1 Dancers may take unlimited group classes at no additional cost.
X-Tension 2 Dancers Must be enrolled in at least one Ballet, one Jazz, and one Student choice class (could be Modern, Hip Hop, Tap or Pointe) Additional classes are recommended, but not required. Classes beyond the requirements come with an additional cost up to the Forte Unlimited class rate.
Obviously, the more classes a student takes, the more successful he/she will be, so taking more than the minimum requirement is encouraged. Dance is an ever changing, competitive yet rewarding field.

Additional Time Commitments: Company Members will be expected to be available for performances and any extra rehearsals leading up to a performance. They are also expected to practice and review choreography at home. We may need help with fundraisers, planning company events, etc. and expect that everyone will work as a team to reach these goals together. There may be opportunities for attending dance conventions, workshops and other dance related events. Although these opportunities are not required, we expect that company members will want to participate and will do their best to be involved.
Company Contracts: Members and parents will sign a contract detailing expectations for behavior, grade point averages, etc. as well as consequences for not meeting the expectations. Contracts will be for one year beginning in June and ending the following May.
Time Commitment for Parents: We don't ask for help on a regular basis, but we may need it from time to time. This could mean planning and helping with fundraisers, making phone calls regarding company events, chaperoning a trip, helping with costumes, volunteering to help with performances, etc. Please let us know how you may be able to help us during the season. The biggest thing we typically ask for is to bring food for one of our events:)
Fundraisers: In addition to our March concert which serves as a fund raiser, we may need to plan extra fundraisers to help with costs of bringing in guest choreographers, attending conventions and shows, offering additional classes, buying costumes, etc. NOTE: There are no additional costume fees to be in the company! (This does not include costumes for regular classes for the big end of year Forte show.)
